Missouri law says that if a car dealer sells a car without a title, the sale is “FRAUDULENT AND VOID.”
Selling a car with a prior lien on the vehicle is also illegal if the dealer doesn’t disclose the lien to the buyer.
If you did not get the title for the car you purchased, or if you found out the car you bought has a pre-existing lien on it, contact Civil Justice Law Firm LLC to discuss your options. Consultations are free, and most cases are handled on a contingent fee basis, meaning the attorney fee is paid from the money recovered from the seller. And Missouri’s consumer protection statute says that if the consumer wins the case, the court may order the car dealer to pay the consumer’s legal fees.
When you buy a vehicle from a Missouri car dealer, you should get the title, a Bill of Sale, a safety inspection, and an Application for Title and License, and other documentation. If you are having problems licensing or registering your vehicle in Missouri or Kansas, contact our office to discuss your rights.
